The Western Australia Police is committed to reducing violence, crime and fear in the sexually diverse community by improving the relationship between police and the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities and providing a quality response.
We do this by:
- Responding to issues affecting people of diverse sexuality and/or gender.
- Assisting victims of crime including victims of family violence and sexual assault.
- Building awareness of police officers in dealing with people of diverse sexuality and/or gender.
- Establishing effective communication and networking between police and members of the sexually diverse community and to show an understanding of and sensitivity to issues facing them.
- Facilitating the attendance of police at local meetings, launches and community events, which relate to policing and sexually diverse issues.
Where to get help
Anyone with concerns, complaints or queries should firstly contact their local Diversity Officer for assistance by calling police on 131 444. Contact the Community Diversity Unit if you do not wish to make a formal complaint but just feel like talking through an issue. All contact is dealt with discreetly.
