About reporting graffiti

Report graffiti hotline: 1800 44 22 55

If you are the victim of graffiti or witness an act(s) of graffiti, call 1800 44 22 55.

Calling 180044 22 55will enable quicker response times to graffiti crime, resulting in faster clean-up and removal, and the graffiti hotlineoperates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Rewards of up to $1000 are available to people providing information leading to the arrest of a graffiti offender.

Operators may ask you:

  • Where is the graffiti and when do you think the attack occurred?
  • What type of graffiti has been done (e.g. paint, texta, scratched, etc)?
  • Does the graffiti contain any offensive messages? What are they?
  • What has been damaged by the graffiti (e.g. fence, bus stop, building, etc)?
  • Canyou indicate the repair cost for the damage caused by the graffiti?

You can also report graffiti using the Graffiti Report Form (Word 73kb, opens in a new window). Take the completed form to your nearest police station.

Graffiti is property damage caused by the application of substances (e.g. paint, posters and/or plastic, metal or wood based compounds) to the surface ofa property. Like many other damage offences, it does not have to be of a permanent nature, and can be temporary marks created by paint, chalk, texta, etc and on public property or visible to the public.
