Police Recruiting and WA Police Public Affairs have just started a new recruitment campaign that uses radio and social media to promote the positives of being a WA police officer and to encourage people to apply as recruits, auxiliary officers or re-engagees.
“Social media forums, such as Facebook and Twitter, are a proven way of communicating with the community today so we’re using these as a way to reach potential applicants,” said Police Recruiting Inspector, Peter Norrish. “The WA Police Facebook page now has more than 8000 fans and there are over 4400 followers on Twitter, and this is an effective way to reach suitable people.”
“It appears that people believe that we only recruit when we advertise on TV, but we’re always recruiting and will always accept applications.
“So, if anyone would like a job where they can make a difference, which is challenging and diverse and they think they have what it takes to be a police officer, we’d like to hear from them,” he said.
